Chula Vista is located seven miles south of San Diego and seven miles north of Tijuana Mexico in the area known as South Bay. Chula Vista (Spanish = Beautiful View) is named due to the scenic views of the coast and mountain foothills, and is the second largest city in San Diego County. Chula Vista has a Mediterranean climate with the coolest average temperatures occurring in Dec, Jan and Feb at 67 degrees.

The Sweetwater Union High School District (Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, National City and San Ysidro) operates14 high schools, 11 middle schools along with Adult education, occupational education and special education. The area is also served by the Chula Vista Elementary School District operating approximately 44 K-6 schools.

The city encourages growth for large and small businesses. The most recent census indicates the largest employer is Educational, Health and Social Services, with Retail Trade coming in second, and Manufacturing as third. Some of the top employers include Goodrich Aerostructures, Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, Southwestern College and the City of Chula Vista.
