A short fourteen minute, 8 mile drive to San Diego, Lemon Grove is just off CA-94 W, twelve miles from the airport, and is also near Kunkel Park. Over the past 100 years, Lemon Grove has the motto the “Best Climate on Earth”. Founded in 1869, Lemon Grove’s first resident was a sheep rancher. The town later acquired large citrus groves to become the major form of employment and industry in the area. After WWII, most of the groves disappeared and in 1977 was incorporated as a general law city. Currently, the city is undergoing a major transformation, by creating a linear park and plaza known as the Main Street Promenade.
