Malibu High School is one of the best public high schools in the country. Malibu is also home to Pepperdine University, a private college with a beautiful campus overlooking the Pacific ocean.

Malibu is known around the world as a beautiful place to live and its parks live up to Malibu’s large reputation. Both Zuma Beach and Surfrider Beach draw thousands of visitors to Malibu annually for both their long waves and warm sands: Surfrider Beach was dedicated as the world’s first surfing reserve. Leo Carillo State Park has views, views and more views: it has over 1.5 miles of beach, surf and fun in the sun for visitors. Surfing, beachcombing and sailing are all popular pastimes in Malibu, but for residents looking for another way to pass the time here, there are several places to shop, dine and scout out Malibu’s resident celebrities. Malibu Country Mart is a luxurious open-air style outdoor shopping center: it features a park, public art, numerous restaurants and boutique shops. Malibu Lumberyard is far more than a lumberyard: it is a mix of shops, restaurants, galleries and occasional live performances. The Pepperdine Center for the Arts stages many events throughout the year ranging from famous musicians to fine collections of art. Malibu Pier is a beautiful place to spend a sunny afternoon taking in the ocean, local shops and catching a bite to eat in this popular spot for tourists and locals alike.

With such beautiful scenery, it’s not surprising that Malibu is home to many festivals and events annually. The Malibu International Film Festival draws directors, filmmakers, movie buffs and celebrities from around the world. The Malibu Arts Festival, held on the last weekend of July each year, is sponsored by the Malibu Chamber of Commerce: it brings high-end art, entertainment and fun to the community. Each year, the Malibu International Marathon offers runners of every caliber a full or half marathon to complete.
