Palmdale, California is known as a family-oriented bedroom community for Los Angeles: the city offers its residents an excellent lifestyle and beautiful homes. The Antelope Valley Union High School District boasts a total of nine high schools: Knight High School has an excellent AP program and receives much recognition for its band. The district also has a trade style school for high school students interested in technical education, the Antelope Valley Regional Occupational Program.

Palmdale has an abundance of fresh air and open spaces for its residents to enjoy. Fans of softball love the Best of the West Softball Complex which features eight lighted professional fields. There are two skateparks in Palmdale with exciting ramps for skaters to enjoy: the Marie Kerr and Chris O’Leary skateparks. The crown jewel of Palmdale Parks and Recreation is the Domenic Massari Park, with over 40 acres of playground, fields, walkways and athletic parks for residents to enjoy. Palmdale also has two community pools and an amphitheatre for special events. The Devil’s Punchbowl, a rock formation that has been described as similar to a miniature Grand Canyon, is located nearby Palmdale for residents to explore.

Kids of all ages love the DryTown Water Park, a large aquatic facility featuring a wide range of attractions. Local fans of the arts enjoy The Palmdale Playhouse, a performing arts center that brings fine theatrical performances to Palmdale. The playhouse also offers lessons in everything from the theater arts to dancing and music. The Joe Davies Heritage Airpark is a great place to view a large collection of United States Air Force aircraft. For shoppers, the Antelope Valley Mall has it all: the complex has 140 stores and restaurants ranging from Macy’s to the Outback steakhouse. For residents who like to hit the golf course, the Rancho Vista Golf Course is a PGA course. The Palmdale amphitheater brings world-class musicians to Palmdale throughout the year.

Every year, many fun community events take place in Palmdale. The Amgen Tour of California has a stage in Palmdale and many avid bicyclists participate while community members come out to watch. Every Thursday night in the summer, the Poncitlán Square hosts special events for families from baking bug-like cookies to listening to live music.
