The district of North Hollywood is a vibrant community in Los Angeles with beautiful homes and a rich history. Located in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles, North Hollywood was first developed by the investment group Lankershim Ranch Land and Water Company in 1887. The group first named the area Toluca and then renamed it Lankershim and West Lankershim. North Hollywood High School won the title of second place in the National Science Bowl Competition in 2012. Grant High School has an excellent film program and many of its alumni have gone on to work successfully in the entertainment industry. Several private schools are located in North Hollywood, including Campbell Hall High School and The Wesley School. The Art Institute of California – Hollywood has a campus in North Hollywood for advanced learners wishing to pursue an education in the arts.

For residents who crave open space and fresh air, North Hollywood has it. The North Hollywood Recreation Center a pedestrian/bike path, open fields, a skate park, tennis courts and a playground. The Weddington Park and Recreation Center is a favorite among North Hollywood families for clean and large playground that includes a special area for toddlers. The Valley Plaza Park has basketball courts, a community pool, soccer fields and a recreation center for teens.

North Hollywood is home for the NoHo Arts District, a diverse community full of galleries, boutiques, contemporary theaters and eateries. NoHo’s theater district includes the new NoHo Arts Center and the El Portal. NoHo is an excellent place to visit for shopping, dining or entertainment right in North Hollywood. The Valhalla Memorial Park Cemetery serves as the final resting place for many aviation pioneers: several stunning sculptures in the park commemorate the pioneers’ great triumphs. Locals can visit Universal Studios which has several attractions in addition to the CityWalk, a nighttime entertainment district featuring locations such as the Hard Rock Hotel.

Though annual events are always happening in the greater city of Los Angeles, North Hollywood locals can often attend something fun without venturing far from home. The annual Hollywood Fringe Festival, a large celebration of the arts, takes place in various Hollywood theaters. Every October, the Toluca Lake Haunted Pumpkin Patch is the place to bring kids of all ages. In Spring, North Hollywood residents take time to thank their local police officers on Tip-a-Cop Day.
