Lake Elsinore Homes for Sale

The southern California city of Lake Elsinore is set on the western side of Riverside County. Though the lake in Lake Elsinore is arguably the city’s best asset, it once prevented residential life here. It often overflowed, but, in more recent years, it has been irrigated and has even run dry before. Once the area could be settled, Hollywood actors flocked here in the early 1900’s; Bela Lugosi’s one-time home still stands here today. Once a small vacation destination set against the Ortega mountains, today Lake Elsinore is a sprawling suburb due to an economic boom in the mid 2000’s.

Lake Elsinore’s Unified School District is one of Riverside County’s oldest school districts. The Lake Elsinore Unified School District has acquired a good reputation that continues to grow: three of the district’s middle schools were ranked within California’s top 15 for API growth. In 2007, the district’s Elsinore and Temescal Canyon both received the California Distinguished School designation; they were the only two schools in Riverside County to be named. The district also has three alternative programs to meet the needs of its non-traditional learners.
