In northern San Diego County is the town of Carlsbad. The western border is the Pacific Ocean and main roads for travel north / south through the city are Interstate 5 and the South Coast Highway. The McClellan-Palomar Airport is centrally located and is a general aviation airport and the city is also located on the COASTER commuter train line.

Schools
There are four school districts that provide K-12 education; Carlsbad Unified School District, Encinitas Union School District, San Dieguito Union School District and San Marcos Unified School District. There are a number of private schools including; Army and Navy Academy (Military Prep) and St Patrick School.
Business
Carlsbad offers business fields, such as life sciences, clean technology, telecommunications and other high tech industries. It is also the home of Legoland and the famous La Costa Resort and Spa, both providing significant employment.

Legoland is a large attraction for all ages. The California State Parks Department manage the three beaches in Carlsbad; South Carlsbad State Beach, Carlsbad State Beach and North Carlsbad beaches.
